For Our Freedom and Yours – one of the unofficial mottos of Poland, brings to mind Polish soldiers on battlefields all over the world, when, exiled from the partitioned Poland, it brought them hope and resilience when fighting in various independence movements. It’s been connecting patriots, war heroes and people across generations ever since.
Director Biography – Magdalena Juszczyk
Photographer and film director. Born in Słupsk (Poland), currently lives in Warsaw. A law graduate, legal adviser and patent attorney. She studied reportage at the postgraduate course in journalism at the University of Warsaw. In 2015, she participated in a Polish-Norwegian documentary workshop in Oslo. Since 2016 she has been a member of the Filmforum Film Association based in Warsaw whose mission is to educate filmmakers and audiences about the art of filmmaking and work for the development of the film industry. Between 2018 and 2020 she participated in a documentary exchange with the Polish-French Film Academy Kinographe.
In 2022, she started studying at the School of Historical Film Documentary at the The Institute of Literary Research of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Digital Competence Center of the University of Warsaw. She is passionate about sailing, film, photography, history and music. Her creative output includes two individual photographic exhibitions and several collective exhibitions with other artists. Her documentaries have been screened at many international film festivals including Los Angeles, Kiev, Beijing, Tulum, Kathmandu, Singapore, Istanbul and many others. In his films, he seeks to portray the human condition in a changing world, looking through the lens of history and its impact on the fate of generations. She is currently working on projects that document the traces of Poles in the East.
