Director Statement
As the years pass from WWII, the Holocaust, and the exceptional heroism that characterized that time, we are changing as a society. The change and distance are inevitable, it’s natural. And it’s from this distance that I wanted to tap into our ability to address the young generation. Due to the importance of learning from the past, continuing to examine it, and growing, it is paramount to find a way to connect the young generation to this topic that is profound, important on an existential level, that focuses on our most primeval nature, our deepest humane roots. The cinematic language of this project is based on a dynamic that speaks a young language with accessibility and realism. The directing of the actors was accessible, natural, at eye level, yet intriguing; it delved deep and evoke respect for the characters.
