“Centaur” is a commemorative documentary that highlights the intergenerational trauma associated with families and the tragic sinking of the AHS Centaur in 1943. The Australian Hospital Ship Centaur was sunk by a Japanese torpedo off the coast of Brisbane as it travelled from Sydney to Papua New Guinea carrying medical personnel to tend to our wounded in WWII.
The sinking of the Centaur was an outright belligerent attack on a ship on a mission of mercy and will forever be remembered in Australian military psyche.
