“VENIZELOS: THE STRUGGLE FOR ASIA MINOR” follows Eleftherios Venizelos during the critical decade from the Balkan Wars and World War I, up to the Asia Minor Catastrophe and the 1923 Treaty of Lausanne. The statesman’s struggle is told through dramatized scenes, rare archive and expert interviews.

Director Biography – Nikos Dayandas
After studying Classical Archaeology (BA) at the Institute of Archaeology, UCL and Documentary (MA) through a Goulandris Foundation scholarship at the University of the Arts in London, Nikos Dayandas (b. 1975) has worked as a director, writer, researcher, editor & producer since 2004. From 2006 to 2016 he was a partner at Anemon Productions. In 2018 he founded Aori Films with Stelios Apostolopoulos.
Nikos has helmed some of Greece’s most acclaimed international co-productions for broadcasters such as NATGEO, ARTE, ZDF, ERT, AVRO, History TV et al, including Sayome, which won the URTI Grand Prix for Author’s Documentary at Monte Carlo, and the FIPRESCI Award at Thessaloniki Doc Film Festival. His next character-driven documentary, Little Land, was distributed in cinemas across Japan. He has co-directed prime-time docu-series 1821 and The Journey of Food for SKAI TV. Recent work includes docu-series The Art Code (aka Decoding Art) for COSMOTE History TV, and the semi-dramatized documentary Buried Secrets of Keros, the first greek National Geographic TV co-production. His first fiction comedy short, Enter the Otter, performed by the children of Dromoi Zois, a community support center in Gazi, Athens, premiered at the 2020 Chicago International Children’s Film Festival. He is currently developing the script for A girl named Zeus, a feature-length fiction film for children and families, with support from the Greek Film Center. He is an alumnus of Documentary Campus Masterschool, Cinekid Writers’ Lab, and Kids Kino Lab.
Since 2015, Nikos collaborates with the American School of Classical Studies at Athens to produce films that help the institution’s fund-raising efforts by showcasing their cutting-edge output in archaeology, history & curation. Other work includes concept design, content development & production of promotional, corporate & educational videos for a diverse group of clients incl. Estee Lauder, Papadopoulou Biscuits, Wines of Crete, the University of Athens, the Museum of Natural History, the Technical University of Crete & the European Space Agency.
